Durability of Laminate Flooring

Laminate floors are incredibly durable. They are constructed with a special aluminum oxide layer that helps resist dings, scratches, stains and burns. These floors are great for high-traffic commercial environments and homes with busy families.

Budget Friendliness

It’s no secret that laminate floors cost a lot less than traditional hardwood, stone or tile. They’ll also last for many years, eliminating the need for costly replacements. Most homeowners can find laminate floors near El Dorado Hills that meet their budget and decor needs.

Ease of Care

Laminate flooring isn’t high maintenance. Simply wipe up wet spots, use a broom to keep debris off the floor and wet mop with cleaners designed for laminate flooring to keep floors in tip-top shape.

How to Install Laminate Floors

You can choose to install laminate floors yourself or you can have them installed by a professional. If you’d like to install your own floors, be aware that four different types of laminate flooring are available:

  • Glueless laminate floors are laid directly onto the substrate with a thin plastic underlay that creates a moisture barrier.
  • Glued laminate floors are difficult to separate once put together because each tongue and groove is glued before planks or tiles are laid on the floor. These are considered the original type of laminate floor.
  • Laminate floors with attached underlay are available with several different types of tongue-and-groove systems. They feature a built-in underlay that helps reduce noise levels.
  • Pre-glued laminate floors are already pieced together for you but must be cut to fit your specific room. They should be laid over a thin plastic underlay to prevent water damage.

El Dorado Hills, CA

El Dorado Hills lies about 13 miles from the 1848 gold discovery site in Coloma, where the California Gold Rush began. The South Fork of the American River washed gold downstream, into areas now in El Dorado Hills and Folsom, but farming and ranching superseded the Gold Rush. Portions of two Pony Express routes in this area from 1860-1861 remain as modern El Dorado Hills roads. El Dorado Hills includes the longest surviving section of the El Dorado Hills Highway, the first U.S. transcontinental highway. This section, part of the Pioneer Branch, passes through historic Clarksville and is the predecessor of the modern US 50 route. They planned from its inception as a group of residential “villages”. Other land uses in the master plan included a business park, two 18-hole golf courses, community parks, schools, a community shopping center, and small commercial centers in each village. The master plan emphasized open space between villages and opportunity for outdoor recreation.
