Laminate Flooring Durability
Advances in manufacturing mean that laminate floors are now more durable than they’ve ever been. Thanks to a special aluminum oxide layer, laminate is resistant to a wide variety of scratches, dings, burns and stains. It is ideal for busy families and for commercial environments that see heavy foot traffic.
Budget Friendly Laminate Flooring in Tracy
Since laminate floors are durable and are made to last for years on end, they’re also one of the most budget-friendly choices a homeowner in Tracy can make when it comes to flooring. Laminate floors are available at a fraction of the cost of real hardwood, stone or tile.
Ease of Care
Laminate flooring doesn’t require intensive, special care. Instead, home and business owners simply need to wipe up wet spots, sweep away debris and use a damp mop to keep laminate floors near Tracy in great shape.
Installing Laminate Flooring near Tracy
Laminate floors can be professionally installed or can be installed by homeowners themselves. If you plan on installing laminate flooring on your own, it’s important to pay attention to your installation options. Four different varieties of laminate flooring are available:
- Glueless laminate floors are a no-mess installation option for do-it-yourselfers. A thin plastic underlay should be used to seal out moisture.
- Glued laminate floors are the original laminate floors. You must apply a special glue between the tongue and groove of each plank before laying them on the substrate. They are impossible to separate once glued together.
- Laminate floors with attached underlay come with different types of tongue-and-groove interlock systems. They have special underlay attached to reduce noise.
- Pre-glued laminate floors are already put together. They should be laid over a thin plastic underlay to ensure that a moisture barrier is created.

The origins of Tracy are related to the mid-19th century construction of Central Pacific Railroad lines running from Sacramento through Stockton and to the San Francisco Bay Area. A number of small communities sprang up along these lines, including the one named for railroad director Lathrop J. Tracy. Incorporated in 1910, Tracy grew rapidly and prospered as an agricultural area even when railroad operations began to decline in the 1950s. Beginning in the 1980s, Tracy experienced a growth spurt as people migrated to the city looking for a more affordable alternative to Bay Area home prices and also for a less hectic lifestyle. A steady period of growth ensued, as many companies found Tracy an ideal location for their distribution facilities. The city today is home to several of these distribution facilities and is setting its sights on newer industries, including expansion of hi-tech companies from their existing Silicon Valley bases.
