Wood Flooring Choices for Your Vacaville Home
Hardwood floors come in a wide variety of wood species, colors, and widths. Besides the classic North American hardwoods (like red oak, white oak, maple, and ash) many wood flooring manufacturers now offer exotic hardwood species from all over the World. Exotic wood selections include bamboo flooring, tiger wood and Brazilian cherry. Exotic hardwoods give Vacaville homeowners the chance to better express their own personal decorating tastes with a unique looking floor.
Wood species vary in hardness, which translates into different levels of durability. Consider oak, maple, ash or Brazilian cherry flooring for the greatest durability. Another great option for highly durable wood floors are engineered hardwood floors. If durability is not a primary consideration for your new hardwood floor, then consider a softer wood like yellow birch or black walnut. Engineered Hardwood Floors for Your Vacaville Home
Through advancements in manufacturing wood floors, today’s engineered hardwood floors are more durable and adaptable to many different living areas in your Vacaville area home. Engineered wood flooring is composed of three to ten layers, called plies that are glued together. This layered construction makes wood flooring stronger than solid wood. Engineered wood floors allow Vacaville homeowners to use hardwood flooring in areas of the home that they would never have considered in the past.
Vacaville’s Best Solid Wood Flooring
Solid wood flooring is less durable than engineered wood floors because it is made of 100% hardwood milled from lumber. Solid wood floors are constructed with natural material which reacts to extreme temperatures and moisture. This means that solid wood floors can expand or shrink over time. However, solid hardwood flooring can be sanded and refinished over the years to manage any changes to conditions and temperatures. For below ground and bathroom hardwood floor installations, it is best to avoid solid hardwood and choose more durable flooring such as engineered hardwood floors.

It sits approximately 35 miles from Sacramento, and 45 miles from San Francisco. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 92,428, making it the third largest city in Solano County.
The city was founded on December 13, 1851 by William McDaniel, on a part of the 1843 Mexican land grant Rancho Los Putos purchased from Manuel Cabeza Vaca. The city was a Pony Express stop and was home to many large produce companies and local farms which flourished due to the Vaca Valley’s rich soil, including The Nut Tree.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 28.6 square miles. 99.26% of the area is land and 0.74% is water. Excluding the Putah South Canal and minor local creeks, the only significant body of water within the city is the 105-acre Lagoon Valley Lake.
